Coming Soon! 1966 Shelby GT350 “Carryover Car” 6S145

by

Coming soon- this incredible 1 of 252 produced 1966 GT350 “Carryover” car s/n 6S145. Even better it is one of just 83 factory “package tray” two-seater Carryover cars, the top of the mountain spec for these vehicles. Fully numbers matching front to back, all original sheetmetal, engine, transmission, etc. with an added date-code correct original Shelby/Paxton supercharger setup, including the absolutely unobtainum original Shelby/Paxton underdash gauges.

Part of the charm of 6S145 is that it was discovered as a completely intact, 22 year old Shelby in the late 1980s and restored to an incredibly high level shortly thereafter, with only service items needing replacement. 6S145 was later featured in Mustang Monthly in July, 2000. Today the car shows a fantastic light patina and presents as the totally righteous, no BS, no bad stories car it is.

6S145 has been in my care for over a decade, during which time I have comprehensively sorted and fine tuned it, regardless of cost, into one of the best driving 65/66 GT350s you will ever find. Her original engine was rebuilt, balanced, and blueprinted by my race engine builder, her original T10 4 speed was rebuilt with all NOS wear items, the complete suspension was rebuilt and detailed, a custom aluminum driveshaft installed, a 3.25:1 ring and pinion installed for high speed touring, and all of the other special “tweaks” that I have developed over 35 years of playing with these cars were thrown at it. There is a full, exact replica Scott Fuller exhaust ($4500) under the car that sounds absolutely spot on. The dated original Paxton blower was rebuilt by Craig Conley of Paradise Wheels, and an accessory Paxton oil cooler setup was added to keep it healthy on long drives. The car rides on a set of restored original Shelby Cragar wheels fitted with period-correct looking, but modern performing, Blockley W speed rated tires. Suffice it to say the list of mechanical preparation is extensive, and the end result is a Shelby that lives up to the legend when you drive it.

As such, we used 6S145 for the 2024 Copperstate 1000 road rally, during which it covered over 1,200 miles at high speed, from sea level to 10k ft altitude, chasing (and, passing) Ferraris and Porsches every step of the way without missing a beat!

If you want one of the rarest, best prepared, most desirable early Shelby Mustangs in existence drop me a line to discuss 6S145 in detail. You’ll be glad you did! In the meantime, you can catch the video below of me detailing 6S145 with my buddy Adam Pitale of Adam’s Polishes.
