1967 Chevrolet Corvette L71 427/435 HP Roadster – 42k Miles – Unrestored

Vehicle Description

**SOLD**

This fully documented and unrestored 42k original mile 1967 L71 3×2 carbureted 435 HP Corvette is a truly special example of one of the most desirable Mid-Year Corvettes of all.

I originally purchased this killer 435 in January of 2011 with 38k miles on it. And today, showing 42k miles, it retains the majority of its original factory applied Marina Blue paint and features a “dream list” of factory options including:

-L71 435HP Turbo-Jet Engine

-M21 Close-ratio 4 speed

-F41 Special Suspension Equipment

-G81 4.11:1 Positraction differential

-White convertible top

-C07 Auxiliary Hardtop with C08 Black Vinyl Covering

-U69 Pushbutton AM/FM Radio

-A01 Tinted Glass

-A85 Shoulder Harness Belts

Of course all of these are documented as original on this cars original factory tank sticker. Built on May 10th, 1967 and quickly sold to its first owner, by the end of 1967 the original short block failed and was replaced under warranty with a real factory 3916321 “CE” warranty block dated Sept. 11 1967. GM fitted this short block under warranty retaining the car’s original March 18th 1967 dated cylinder heads, original intake, and carburetors which the car retains to this day. The M21 transmission is also factory original, dated March 27th 1967, and sports the proper factory VIN stamp as well. A complete list of all other date codes and part numbers is available of course, and all are correct and original for this car.

In 1986 the nose was re-sprayed to fix road rash and in 2008 an extensive and impressively documented mechanical refurbishment was performed including a full engine rebuild and more. Upon my purchase in 2011 I went through the car again and prepared it for use on the Copperstate 1000 rally. No stone was left unturned and everything from Delco gas shocks to balancing of the original driveshaft and half shafts, new hub bearings, SS sleeved calipers, a solid state TI amplifier, full dyno tune, full “fast road use” alignment to VBP specs and more were performed to make sure this 435 was absolutely as good as could be and ready to tackle a 1,000 mile road rally. I also installed a 3.36:1 ring and pinion for high speed use, but the factory 4.11 is boxed and saved of course.

For the rally I loaned it to my good friend and noted automotive journalist Jamie Kitman to drive on the Copperstate 1000 and he wrote a multi-page feature article about the experience that you can read by clicking here.

But wait, this baby is even more famous! It was part of the cover/ feature story by Frank Markus in the Summer 2012 issue of Motor Trend Classic entitled “Grudge Rematch” where they pitted this 435 against my buddy Craig Conley’s 1967 GT500. You can read that entire story by clicking here.

Additionally it is an NCRS Top Flight winner and also won its class at the LaJolla Concours in 2016.

Today it runs, drives, handles and stops as good as any midyear Vette on the planet. It is freshly serviced and needs absolutely noting to hop in and enjoy immediately. Everything works as new, including the clock!

Needless to say this 435 is one of my favorite midyear Corvettes of all and has been great fun to have around for almost 10 years now. But it is time to let somebody else have some fun with it so if you desire an incredibly original, low mile, fully sorted, well known real-deal factory L71 435 in a simply fantastic color combination with great options and fully documented from new here is your chance!
