1965 Shelby GT350 5S156 One Owner For 55 Years

Proudly *SOLD*  is this early 1965 GT350 serial number SFM5S156, an early rear-battery example sold new at the legendary Hi-Performance Motors, Carroll Shelby’s own Shelby dealership that was located in the shadows of LAX.

But most importantly I purchased this fully numbers-matching, 39,000 original mile car from the widow of its original owner in 2020. Yes, this was a one-owner car from new until I purchased it, still on its original title, in early 2020.

At that time, while 156 was in incredible condition, I felt given the cars history it deserved to be made as good as it could be. One thing led to another and soon I had it down to a bare tub and performed an extremely high-level concours restoration. While I am biased I think it created one of the best 1965 Shelby GT350s in existence. Add in the one-owner history, original paperwork, important original selling dealer and the insane level of sorting and fine tuning I lavished upon it to make it run and drive absolutely flawlessly it is certainly one of a kind.

5S156 sits today exactly as it did when it rolled out of HPM on 5/19/65 and as documented on the original purchase order: No stripes, steel K-H wheels, and a dealer-installed Ford AM/FM radio with a rear-mounted antenna.

If you want a ’65 GT350 that checks all the boxes and you refuse to settle for anything but the best this is the car for you.
