1971 DeTomaso Pantera 7,075 Original Miles

Vehicle Description

Just In!

One of the finest original, unrestored “pre-L” Panteras in existence with just 7,075 original miles from new and original paint.

But as the infomercials like to shout “Wait! There’s More!” This particular Pantera was purchased new and owned for over 30 years by Bob Lazier,  the patriarch of the Lazier family of Indianapolis 500 racing royalty. Bob Lazier, beyond having the impeccable taste to be the original owner of this Pantera, was the 1981 CART “Rookie of the Year.” His two sons Buddy and Jaques are both Indy 500 racers of note- in fact Buddy was the 1996 Indy 500 Winner and also the 2000 IRL Series Champion. And the third generation of Lazier racers is well underway with Buddy’s son Flinn Lazier having just moved from Formula Vee to the USF2000 series for 2017. To top that off Buddy Lazier has just announced that he will be racing at Indy again this year.

I know, I know, back to the car: When Bob decided to sell this Pantera in 2011 it had just 6,564 miles on it from new. Cared for as a member of the family it was always kept in top shape and stored properly as evidenced by its condition today. Additionally its second owner from 2011-2016 had a Pantera specialist comprehensively service the car (invoices in hand) and also had the detailing master Tim McNair at Grand Prix Concours Preparation put his touch on it from top to bottom. And, while not pictured, the original wheels and original factory-installed tires are also included as are the ultra rare set of original factory magnesium 8″ and 10″ GTS wheels with modern radial tires fitted for driving. This is a fully sorted and ready to use car with no deferred maintenance or storage issues.

In summary one would be embarking on a long, and virtually impossible search to find another Pantera with anything close to this Pantera’s credentials. It is the right color, has the right history, is in incredible unrestored condition, has verified single-digit mileage, and spent thirty years in the care of its original owner who happens to be Indy 500 racer Bob Lazier. Hard to top that don’t you think?
