Classic American Muscle Car

NEWSFLASH! Previously this fantastic Yenko had no original paperwork. Recently discovered were priceless documents from Yenko Chevrolet for this car, including the original "Deal Jacket" and complete contents. While listed on the Supercar Registry list as having been sold at Marshall Chevrolet in Reading, Pa., we now in fact have proof that the car was originally invoiced to Marshall but was sold NEW right at Yenko Chevrolet- a common Don Yenko trick to order more cars from GM under other dealer's names! Some of this incredible paperwork has been scanned and is posted along with the photos. Included is a copy of the ORIGINAL Yenko Chevrolet window sticker for this car. It just doesn't get any better than that! Armed with the original owner's name and information from 1969, I have people trying to track him down for further history as we speak - stay tuned! -Colin

This is one of 198 Yenko Camaros built in 1969, and one of 170 4 Speed cars. It is fully documented and listed on the official Yenko vin list maintained by the Supercar Registry.

Sold new at YENKO Chevrolet on 11/12/1969 to Charles E Troupe, who traded in his 1968 Dodge Charger R/T 440 for it! For roughly $2400 and his $2000 credit for the one year old Charger, the 27 year-old responsible married man Troupe was on the road in his $4356.10 list price Yenko Camaro. An original and highly desirable Daytona Yellow car with no vinyl top from new. This is denoted by the 76/76 Paint code on the cowl tag.

In 1969, Chevrolet provided Yenko with factory installed L72 427/425 HP engines and other modifications to Yenko's specs using the COPO 9561 Package for the L72 engine conversion including the cowl induction hood, curved neck 4 core radiator, and high performance suspension group. The COPO 9737 Sports Car Conversion Package was used for such items as mandatory power disc brakes, 13/16" front sway bar, BE Code special heavy duty 4.10 Posi rear, 15x7" Rallye Wheels, and the 140 MPH speedometer.

This great example is a super high level driver with great detail. It is not a concours type car, but rather a car that would win every local show and to the average guy looks absolutely perfect. It has beautiful older paint combined with a near perfect interior and exceptional detailing under the hood and on the chassis. The engine is a perfectly date coded correct L72 motor that has "matching numbers" but in my professional opinion is a replacement block stamped with the correct number and VIN. The Corvette guys often refer to these as "restoration motors" as they pass scrutiny for judging and are absolutely correct if not in fact orignal to the car. The engine was just completely rebuilt by noted Camaro expert Bob Harris of Camaro Specialties. It produced 488 HP on the engine dyno during break-in and is super strong. The Muncie M21 transmission and BE rear axle are original to the car and freshly rebuilt as well. Correct YENKO style reproduction exhaust headers are fitted in place of the original cast iron manifolds. The original 970 Sun Tach is mounted to the dash, and the optional YENKO gauges are fitted underneath.

The entire car was just tuned and detailed to perfection by a well known Yenko expert and it shows. This Yenko looks, runs and drives exceptionally well and is a turn-key, no excuses car. All mechanical systems including the brakes, fuel and cooling systems were just gone through and this is like a new car in all respects.

The recently discovered ORIGINAL paperwork for this car includes: Yenko Deal Jacket; Customer's Financial Statement; Yenko's "Notice to Dealer" from GMAC with financing details; check stub from the check Yenko used to pay off Troupe's loan to Chrysler Credit Corp.; the "yellow copy" sales invoice; the Yenko log book page for this transaction; copy of the original Yenko window sticker for this car; Yenko's internal invoice for the original sale (white copy); and the handwritten order form for this car showing "Super 427 Equipment".

Yenko Camaros are among the hottest Super Cars out there. When was the last time you saw a documented, good color, real 4 speed car on the open market? This is an exceptional example that would be at home in any collection. If you have been looking for a great Yenko, this one deserves a good look!
